Directions to Our Practice

If you’ve never been to our Taylor location, here are 2 easy routes you could take, starting from Heritage Park:

1. Get onto Pardee Rd heading north, then turn right onto Goddard Rd and left onto Allen Rd. Continue straight as it becomes Pelham Rd, and watch for us coming up fast on your left, barely after you pass the Dollar Tree on your right.
2. If you’re closer to the south end of the park, get onto Northline Rd heading east, then turn left onto Allen Rd. At this point, you can follow the first set of directions, and you’ll find us at 10460 Pelham Rd.

How Much Local History Do You Know?

Taylor, Michigan, has a rich history that dates back to its early days as part of Ecorse Township. The area, primarily rural farmland initially, saw its first landowner, Peter Coan, acquire 80 acres from the U.S. government in 1830. This historical figure is commemorated by Coan Lake in Heritage Park, named in his honor. The township was officially established in 1847 after residents sought to form a separate community due to the distance from civic activities, and it was named after Major General Zachary Taylor, a notable figure in the Mexican-American War and later the twelfth President of the United States.

Taylor’s development included the construction of a small train station in 1876 by the Wabash Railroad, which passed through the land owned by George E Hand, leading the area to be known as “Hand Corners.” In the late 19th century, German settlers established the West Mound United Methodist Church, which remained a local landmark until its relocation in 1994. The township transitioned into a city in 1966, following a favorable vote by the citizens, and was officially incorporated in 1968 under the governance of then-governor George W. Romney.

Throughout its modern history, Taylor has witnessed significant events including presidential visits from Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and milestones such as the construction of the Gateway Bridge in 2005, heralded as Detroit’s “new icon.” The city has also faced challenges, such as the FBI investigation into corruption in 2019 involving the then-mayor and other city officials.
